Adventures in NaPoWriMo 4/30

after all of it
the sound of your voice is start and stop to my heartbeat still
you are lavender kiss to crimson sky
with cool breeze on sultry sundays in june
you are back road willow and lemonade crisp
the butterfly twinge of coming home
to porch swing and bread in the oven
i do not love like anything on television
this is georgia clay to the spine of me
we are forged papers and hounddog trail
you whisper my name like a north star song
after all of it
i still feel free
like we’ve spun some kind of magic here
like smooth stones skipping cross the river
we carolina dawn ‘til the fish bite, love
and i know some days we are hook and sinker
but most we are light and lightning bug
after all of it
we are sweet and summer still
like hummingbirds at dusk
